Tuesday had some scheduling problems. The elves were perhaps not being utilized at
maximum efficiency, so the line was longer than expected. Or preferred.
Really, if the line is going into the back hallway on a weekday early in
December, something is wrong. Santa said
that the vibe with the elves is a little off this year. There are a lot of new elves, and they just
need to continue training. They should
get it before Christmas Eve.
The JFK event was today.
It’s a charity event where Santa goes out to JFK with Mrs. Clause and
two elves (Spritz and Merriment this year), and rides in a plane greeting
severely disabled children.
You know what the worst part of working at Santaland
is? Getting up early to be at work on
time. Shortcake does not function well
on less than 8 hours of sleep. And due
to schedule constraints out of her control, she usually doesn’t go to bed
before midnight. This leads to only 6
hours of sleep, and it is hard to
crawl out of a warm bed on a dark winter morning. She wouldn’t do it for anyone but Santa.
There is also an afternoon slump around 2:30pm when
Shortcake gets tired and loopy. It’s an
interesting hour and a half until the next strawboss comes to relieve her –
today it was Genie:
That's Bell photobombing in the background.
